This artist talk happened during lunch on friday. It was about this artist's journey and explained what textile art is. This artist grows plants to create natural dyes, that she uses to die the textiles. Her creations are woven, like on a loom. I was suprised to learn that she has used rust to dye things, which is something I would be interested in trying some time. She has goats for fiber, and I wonder if she keeps them on any hair supplements or omegas for coat growth, because that could have a huge impact on her material. Weather or not she keeps them on a forage only diet or feeds grain in addition, and what type of forage and supplements she uses could also have a huge impact, and I would love to talk to her about that some time. Her art is inspired by nature. The talk was really interesting, and I am left with more questions about textile arts than I started with.
